About JMDuk
The organisation currently employs 20 members of staff, the majority of whom are skilled engineers ranging from Consultant to Graduate level. With over 80 years of experience in the field of dynamics which can be brought to bear on any noise and/or vibration problem, JMD's engineers are able to quickly identify, assess and resolve dynamics problems before expensive fatigue failures occur. In fact, our range of Vibration Risk Management services allows potential problems to be rectified before they even leave the drawing board.
Our engineers could not operate without effective support and our office backup team consisting of Office Management, Financial Support, IT Support and Technical Information Support provide a committed and efficient service, allowing the JMD team to respond to clients' problems with ease and efficiency. The Technical Library operated by JMD is one of only a few such resources to continue to be manned on a full time basis by a dedicated Information Officer. This underlines JMD's commitment to ensuring that we are leading the industry in our chosen areas of expertise.
JMD has many years experience offshore on the UKCS and has an impressive list of satisfied clients in this region. Current clients include BP, MOUK, Shell, ExxonMobil, Kerr-McGee, Total, BG and Nexen to name but a few and JMD are proud of the level of repeat work obtained from these clients across many different assets. JMD is also active globally, with recent projects including visits to Vietnam with BP, Qatar with Occidental and RasGas, Australia with Santos, Angola with Esso and Kazakhstan with TWI/KPO. In addition to the work performed in the Petrochemical industry, JMD's services are equally applicable to the Power Generation, Pharmaceutical, Electronics, Pulp and Paper, Cement and Concrete, Construction, Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Manufacturing industries.
All work undertaken by JMD is performed using in-house expertise, and no work is subcontracted to third parties.
JMD UK has established close links with Integrity Management Companies and is actively engaged in changing the perception of vibration within these organisations so that vibration issues are seen as a full and integral part of the overall plant integrity, and not the preserve of specialists alone. This results in increased awareness of the vibration threat and a marked improvement of the overall integrity of piping systems in all target industries.
The first Vibration Risk Assessment (VRA) Tool for process piping systems was developed by JMD and has been employed in process plants and oil and gas installations worldwide over the last 8 years. The JMD VRA methodology is a mature procedure which is reviewed on a continual basis, allowing it to remain as the market leading VRA tool and the preferred choice of integrity managers throughout the petrochemical and process industries.
JMD developed both the first Vibration Awareness Training Course and the first set of Basic Vibration Troubleshooting Guidelines for use within the Oil and Gas industry. Vibration Awareness Training provided by JMD has been received well on numerous installations and in several operator and Integrity Management Provider 'Lunch and Learn' sessions. These courses continue to be popular throughout the entire petrochemical industry and are continually updated to maintain their freshness and relevance to industry problems.
JMD has in-house manufacturing capabilities, where anti-vibration pipework clamp supports are manufactured and custom designed fittings, fixtures and components for our measurement and test facilities are produced. JMD has designed the JMD Universal Clamp for SBA vibration problems, which was patented in May 2003 and continues to be produced for clients worldwide. One further customised solution to dynamic problems in the Oil and Gas Industry developed by JMD, in conjunction with Fylde Electronics, is the Friction Gauge Amplifier. The first in the world to have built-in facilities for calibration of frequency and magnitude, it is portable and user-friendly, ideal for measuring and collecting strain data offshore.
All JMD Group Ltd working practices conform to BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 and JMD is committed to the continual improvement of safety standards within all areas of operation. This commitment is demonstrated by the active cross-fertilisation of safety initiatives between all of our clients' places of work. JMD is a registered First Point Assessment Limited (FPAL) supplier and can be found under supplier number: 10048813.
All of the staff at JMD are committed to the development of procedures, standards and technology in all of our fields of operation and our primary goal is the cost effective avoidance and resolution of dynamics problems for our valued clients. We will continue to perform research and development in the field of dynamics and will lead the way within our chosen area of expertise, to ensure increased awareness and understanding of dynamics problems and to enhance the dynamic performance of all of our clients.
